I think the vibrant colours common in nature in the Caribbean have led to Caribbean people choosing more bright of vivid colours sometimes in their costumes (at Carnival) or in the appearance of their homes. If you look at traditional homes in America or Europe they tended to be more bland…. Something like a white with black trim. Or Yellow with black or white trim. Or like greenish in colour or just natrual wood colour but in the Caribbean islands, the colours are all kinds of hues of like pink, and green, or blue, or so on… Brightly coloured rooftops even etc. Only really in the last 10-15 years or so have I really seen some US homes take-on this really colourful look.
What are the best Caribbean islands for snorkeling?
Author: admin
We are avid snorkelers and our vacation plans are based ONLY on the HOW GOOD the SNORKELING IS! We are aware of the much publicized devastation of coral reefs over the last couple of years. Last year we tried Grand Cayman and were disappointed. Lots of dead or bleached coral all over. Since it was our first time there we couldn't tell if it was from the recent damage. Where is the snorkeling less affected, in other words, where it is just as good now as it was several years ago? We would prefer a place where there is enough good snorkeling you can do on your own without having to go on a boat and be subject to the boat's schedule.
Thanks!
Thanks everyone! I forgot to mention that we want to go somewhere NEW (for us), and we've already done some great snorkeling at BVI (including St. John), Bonaire, Cozumel, and Belize, as well as Grand Cayman.
We are thinking about Turks & Caicos, Antigua, or Curacao. Someone told me that in Turks & Caicos, the coral has not been affected.
Leinster Bay (St. John): With easy access from land and sea, Leinster Bay is filled with calm, clear, and uncrowded waters with an abundance of sea life.
Haulover Bay (St. John): A favorite with locals, this small bay is rougher than Leinster and is often deserted. The snorkeling is dramatic, with ledges, walls, nooks, and sandy areas set close together. At this spot, only about 182m (597 ft.) of land separates the Atlantic Ocean from the Caribbean Sea.
How old do you haveto be to travel to the caribbean?

and do you have to have a parent present?
1 day old or older.. as long as you have your parents.
I think you can fly by yourself at 16, on most airlines, but younger than that most of them want a parent or gaurdian with you.
if you are 75 or older, you must have both your parents and grandparents with you, (usually in a bottle or jar)
We are going on a cruise and I'm trying to find travel brochures for the countries that we will be visiting - but I'm not having much luck. I've spent a lot of time printing off information, but would like to have travel brochures for the countries. Any ideas?
Try the Brochures of the Cruise Company( online), but dont take it, cost a lot, just do your research of the places and when you get on an Island rent a car or took the tour there are more cheaper(between $15 to $20 per person per island0. If you travel in group, better rent car, one island you, then other island a friend, you just have to follow the others car and you get to the places of interest. The advantage is that you could enjoy better the places (stay more time in that place) or if you dont want to see, continue to others.

Caribbean Cruises - Paradise Awaits - Part One
Author: admin
With the invention of modern day jetliners many thought that passenger ships were doomed and would go the way of train travel as more people chose the fast travel times that flying offered.
But passenger ships are more popular than ever and the cruise industry is seeing record growth rates. In fact, cruising is so popular that cruise companies are building larger more luxurious cruise ships in a bid to win the hearts and minds of the traveler.
Of the many number of cruises available the Caribbean remains one of the most popular destination spots for vacationers in the world. Comprised of hundreds of islands each with their own distinct personality a cruise to the Caribbean is a vacation experience that won’t soon be forgotten.
The Caribbean is geographically divided into three regions and cruises are usually centered on one of these areas but rest assured that no matter which region you pick you will experience beautiful weather and gorgeous sandy beaches.
The Eastern Caribbean Get Ready To Shop
The Eastern Caribbean region is made up of a set of islands known as the Lesser Antilles that extend 600 miles along the Eastern side of the Caribbean Sea. This area is much more commercially developed than the Western and Southern Caribbean areas and as a result is more heavily visited by tourists.
Daytime temperatures in the 80s with lows at night in the 70s make it perfect for vacationers wanting to escape the frigid U.S. winters if only for a week or two. The Hurricane season runs from June through the beginning of November and the Eastern Caribbean is more prone to hurricanes as the other regions so keep that in mind.
The Bahamas are probably the most well know of the Eastern Caribbean islands but St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Puerto Rico are also very popular and sure to please.
Those cruising for the first time might want to consider an Eastern Caribbean cruise as these cruises usually offer more days at sea and the islands visited are less of a culture shock for those not used to traveling outside the country. Because of this they are also more crowded and more costly than the Western and Southern Caribbean.
Diving and snorkeling is good here just not as good as the Western and Southern Caribbean but you will find the duty-free shopping to be among the best in the world with many big name luxury retailers having stores on the islands. Plan your trip around any major luxury goods purchases you are going to make and you might save enough to pay for your vacation.
