Carnival in the Caribbean
Author: admin
A Caribbean carnival is held every year to celebrate life. Many years ago, the Catholics in Italy began the tradition of having a costume festival before the first day of Lent. During Lent, Catholics are not permitted to eat meat and the act of putting meat away is was called cane vale back then, so that is what this festival got named. The rest, as they say, is history. The carnivals became famous and the practice soon spread to other parts of Europe across all the Catholic countries. When the French, Portuguese, and Spanish forces began their occupations of the Americas, the festival was brought along with them and here we are today.
A Caribbean carnival is special because it represents the amalgamation of many historic twists that have been witnessed by these islands. A big influencing factor is the numerous European, African, Chinese, and Indian slaves and indentured workers that were brought to the Caribbean in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Due to the large number of Africans, the African traditions have a profound impact on the Caribbean carnival. This includes the circling of villages that is believed to bring good fortune, resolve problems, and bring peace to dead people. Other African influences in Caribbean carnival include the gathering of natural objects like beads, bones, shells, grasses, etc. to create a mask or sculpture with the different objects representing different ideas and spiritual forces.
A Caribbean carnival is very colorful and quite exciting and it is celebrated all throughout the Caribbean though every island has its own unique twist to the celebrations. The dates also vary across the islands. Since the native Caribbeans are quite skilful at creating music, the Caribbean carnival is filled with music and of course, dance. Every Caribbean carnival unleashes the creative talents of the natives as they create new tunes and melodies to which people may dance.
While music, song, dance, and colorful costumes are all right, a Caribbean carnival is not complete without some great food. Caribbean cooking is a delicious thing, even outside of a festival, and during a festival the cooks apparently go out of their way to make certain that no one can resist their creations.
One of the best ways to experience a lot of diverse Caribbean carnivals is to go on a sailing vacation through the Caribbean. You can plot your own course through the islands and stop anywhere you want to enjoy the various forms of Caribbean carnival.

Air India Offers Economy Class Tickets at Rs.99 Each
Author: admin
In a new offer, India’s flag carrier Air India has pegged its economy class fare at Rs.99 excluding Rs.3,024 as fuel surcharge on all domestic sectors till Feb 28, an airline official said.
Besides this, it has launched another scheme under which travellers booking tickets 21 days in advance will also be offered tickets at Rs.99 each. For them, the scheme will be valid even after Feb 28.
For its business class travellers, Air India already has a scheme till February-end under which the passenger’s spouse can travel paying only the fuel surcharge and airport user development charge.
Fares were last reduced Dec 30, when the state-owned airline slashed base fares up to 82 percent on several sectors, and private carriers by at least 50 per cent.
Air India trailed private carriers Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines in terms of passenger load last year.
Jet Airways, together with its low-cost airline JetLite, was India’s largest domestic air services operator ferrying some 12.01 million passengers and commanding a market share of 29.5 percent, according to data of the civil aviation ministry released this month.
Vijay Mallya’s Kingfisher Airlines, along with its budget carrier Kingfisher Red, was next, flying 11.26 million passengers to capture a 27.6 per cent market share.
In comparison, Air India continued to lose market share in the domestic sector and flew just 6.63 million passengers, and accounted for a market share of 16.3 percent. It had a 19-per cent market share in 2007.
Earlier this month, Jet introduced a scheme where business class tickets booked 21 days in advance were priced 30-35 percent lower than the regular fares.

The Caribbean is the destination to look out for the sun & sand lovers. Home to splendid beaches & palm groves, Caribbean also boasts of numerous enviable golf resorts.
A Caribbean golf vacation truly is the vacation of your dreams if you are an avid golfer, or even if you are simply a golf fan. You can play golf in shear relaxation in the morning, relax in pure tranquility on the beautiful, white sandy beaches and experience the fantastic Caribbean food and cuisine in the evening, or alternatively, experience the night life in the busier part of the Caribbean islands.
Caribbean golf resorts are fast becoming all inclusive vacation spots as resort owners revamp and restructure them to suit golfers’ and non-golfers’ needs alike. Hence, like other golf resorts in the United States, most Caribbean golf resorts are endowed with amenities and features that anyone would enjoy.
So, how to have an ideal vacation at the Caribbean Golf resorts?
If traveling alone, you can plan your vacation on your own, keeping in mind where exactly you want to stay and how you would like to spend your Caribbean vacation. But if it’s a family vacation, then it’s advisable to rope in a travel agent to plan your trip to ensure you include activities for all of the family. Moreover, one should also consult his family before deciding upon the resorts one wants to holiday at so that one may find a package that fits everyone’s needs and expectations.
If you want an all inclusive holiday package then go for the agency that allows customizing a vacation package. Shop around for the best deals to grab the budget-friendly packages. You can find very special deals on the internet nowadays and it is perhaps the
best route in planning your Caribbean golf vacation.
Things that you should consider for a package are that it includes all of the essential things such as transportation, hotel accommodations, food, rental fees, and optional activities for you to enjoy. Know also other details like the duration of stay and other expenses in case you choose to extend your vacation. Check your travel papers, money and personal things, etc. once you reach your destination.
Several golf resorts offer golfing lessons. So while you enjoy a vacation you can also sharpen up your golfing skills. But to make your vacation a memorable experience be furnished with all the information necessary for one and you can squeeze as much as possible out of your Caribbean golf vacation.

How to Get Cheap Air Fare Deals
Author: admin
There’s no one who travels who doesn’t like to find deals on cheap air fare. Saving money on air travel one of the first things everyone tries to do when planning their next business trip or vacation. Unfortunately finding the lowest price feels much like playing the lottery, you might win but most of the time you don’t. And the one time you get that cheap ticket you find out the guy in the seat next to you paid even less for his.
With this in mind just remember that getting a cheap air fare is not a competition with some unknown fellow traveler, but a way of stretching your traveling budget farther. If it works for you then all is good when you step onto that plane. The question then becomes how does one find the cheapest prices for air travel.
Probably the easiest way to get good deals on plane tickets is through a budget airline. These are the no frills carriers that specialize in simply moving people from point A to point B in the shortest amount of time for the lowest price. Nearly all of the ticket reservations and purchases are done online which is cheaper and more efficient then having ticketing agents deal with customers. The flights are also no frills and may only offer a beverage service and little else. The whole idea of a budget airline is to keep operating costs to a minimum and pass the saving to their customers.
If a budget airline is not your idea of air travel then there are other ways of finding cheap air fares from the major airlines. Here are some tips to help you get those cheap tickets.
1. If you plan far enough ahead get your tickets far in advance of your trip. The farther out you make your reservations the cheaper the tickets generally are. This isn’t always possible because sometimes trips seem to pop up out of no where but if you make your reservation at least 10 days in advance you will save some money.
2. Choose your travel dates and times carefully. By traveling at off peak times during the week or early in the morning you can find some good deals simply because the airlines want bodies in those seats.
3. If you have a group or family traveling at the same time book the same flight as a group. Many times you can save on processing fees in this situation.
4. Be sure to check online often. The internet is one of the best places to find all sorts of travel discounts, not just on airline tickets.
5. Be sure to check all your options. In other words shop around and compare prices along with any restrictions that may be attached to these discounts. If you take the first deal that you find you may not be entirely happy with the service provided the day you travel. Be sure to know what you are getting for the price you are paying.
Getting cheap air fare deals is easy once you know where to look and what to look for. If you follow all or some of the steps above before long you’ll never pay full price for an airline ticket again.
