I commend your interest in helping out and we Oregonians are resourceful people. So I'm sure your help would be both welcome. I would go to news.yahoo.com and do a few searches to find out who is doing relief work in either New Orleans or one of the many other smaller communities that were hit so hard by Katrina. Then I'd look up how to get ahold of those companies, find those asking for volunteers or with positions open and then contact them. Ask them if the will pay for reasonable relocation expenses. That way you will have a place to work and a roof over your head when you get to LA. And contrary to what the previous responder said, my aunt is working with FEMA as a resource coordinator.
