I've not been on Grandeur of the Seas recently, I was on it shortly after the maiden voyage. The thing with cruise ships is that they don't seem to have a very long "shelf life" Of course, it depends on the line. Disney's boat are almost 10 years old, while they are older, Disney continues to keep them in great shape, so it depends on each line. But when a ship is ten years old, they tend to be suffering some in the quality. So, the best thing to do is just read reviews, especially people that were onboard recently to see their experience.

The thing I have learned about reviews is that you have to use your own judgement. You are going to have people review something that love it and people that hate it. People have different standards. To some people, a ship may be the nicest thing they have ever seen, to others, it may be the worst, it just depends what you experience has been as far as traveling and what kind of standards you have. But, in the end, there are always going to be people that can find the negatives in everything. So, you need to read both the good and the bad, and then see how these reviews work together. If one person has awful experience, but 100 other people had good service, you can pretty much assume it was good service, someone just had bad luck.

I think Royal Caribbean is a great line. They do a great job with keeping passengers happy, they have good food, entertainment, etc. They aren't a luxury line, but they are a great line in general, and especially for the price. They have some great ships and their newer ships are awesome. That being said, you may consider looking at a few of their other ships, some of the newers ones. Anytime you can get a newer ship it will be a little better.

But again, just read the reviews, and learn from them, but in the end, you have to use your own judgement to decide if the cruise is right for you. Each person has different preferences and likes and dislikes.
