Bayahibe DR/Riviera Maya Mex. Resort. Whats the difference?

Surprisingly for April departures from Toronto, I found the Riviera Maya, Gran Bahia Principe Akumal is almost $300 lower for one week all inclusive holiday than the Bayahibe Dominican Republic Wynd Dominicus. Which resort is better, the one you are at. But based on cost I would choose Riviera Maya. The $600 saved by a couple can pay for a lot of excursions.
