The Spanish with Christopher Columbus were the first Europeans

The original inhabitants were the Arawak/Taino and Kalina indians. They were then the victims of a mass genocide in which the majority of the Arawak/Taino were practically wiped out by the Spanish. There is a small group of the Kalina/Caribs in some islands

The Europeans decided to stay and had tobacco plantations. They first brought indentured servants from Ireland. They didn't last long in the climate so they looked for another source-African slaves.

As the slave trade lasted over hundreds of years. The largest ethnic group in the Caribbean is of African descent.
After slavery was abolished, many slaves left the plantations and the whites needed another labour source. They brought indentured servants from China and India to fill the void- this was in islands such as Trinidad, Guyana and Jamaica

There are other groups that have immigrated through the years- Syrians etc

Hope I helped
References :
It's okay.

If you really want to save, stay in a hostel or don't get a package. The more you travel the better you'll get at shopping for good deals.

This price seems safe for beginners.
References :
That is normal. Nowadays airlines say that they break up the flights and that it is the same to buy one way or return, but that is not true. I have no idea why they do it or how it can economically be an advantage to them.
It is normally cheaper to buy a return ticket (round trip ) and just not use the second portion.
Do be aware though that if you buy a round trip ticket and plan to use only the 'return' part, not the going part, the ticket will be cancelled. If you do not show up for the first part of the journey they assume that you do not need the second part/return and cancel the whole thing.
References :
experienced traveller
