Old San Juan walking tour back to the Voyager of the Seas. Just can't beat those "old world" cobble stone streets for immersive atmosphere, complemented by the subtle pastel palate of individual building colors. It is possible, without inordinate effort, to ignore the commercialism, and just live the Old World fantasy. A brief stop in pigeon park - don't look up with your mouth open!

Labadee from the tender and arriving on the beach. Surf riders! Royal Caribbean really pushes the Wave Runners, and for a change, the experience does live up to the hype, IF you like intense activities. Age limits apply both to drivers (16 and up, with a driver's license) and to passengers (8 and up), and I would suggest more emphasis on *preference* for this type of ride. Two out of three of the kids did not care for the intensity of the experience, and would rather have built sand castles on the beach. Bring goggles and a cup.

The Midnight Grand Buffet. Spectacular ice, fruit, chocolate and other culinary sculptures. Almost a shame to eat, it was all so beautiful! The ice sculptures are hand carved out of a 360 pound block of ice, in about 20 minutes. I just kept the video camera running while taking still pictures. Edible art! Too bad the midnight buffet has to happen so late - the kids would have loved this experience in person!

The Sports Deck and too short a view of other locations. A very quick look at the 15th deck Wedding Chapel (there was about to be a ceremony) followed by a walk-thru of the 14th deck bars. The sports deck alone can keep you busy for a week, with the basketball court, mini golf course, ping pong, in-line skate track, golf simulator, and more. Of course, the much advertised Rock Climbing Wall, which is harder to do than it looks, does actually live up to the hype. It is a combination of logic, strength, and perseverance which makes ringing the bell so satisfying. The view from the top isn't bad, either!

Back in the Royal Suite again, we see "our closest neighbor" on the high seas. It is also unfortunately time to start packing, but not before a geography quiz. Apparently, we need some work with an atlas. Sure was a great homeschooling field trip!

Royal Suite again, this time getting ready for formal night, including a tour of Sebastian's clay army. It took him 3 days to set up this battle! This is more of a "Daddy's so proud" moment more so than a Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines "Voyager of the Seas" moment, but it did take place in our stateroom.

On the Rock Climbing Wall. The crew was very helpful in getting us ready to "ring the bell." It took more time to read and sign the release form than anything else. From our vantage point on the observation deck of the rock climbing wall, you can see the inline skating track behind the full-sized basketball court. Next to that is the miniature golf course, which is particularly challenging on a rolling ship. It was very windy that day on the high seas. Personally speaking, there's an exhilarating sense of accomplishment at ringing that silly bell. Sebastian's essment: "It gave me a wedgie." Priceless.
